Los Angeles Man Killed In Fatal 5 Freeway Crash Identified

The person who was killed in a fatal vehicle collision on the 5 Freeway early Monday morning has been identified.

Miguel Guarchai Rosario, 27, from Los Angeles was killed in the fatal crash, said Sarah Ardalani, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The fatal 5 Freeway crash occurred at about 3:15 a.m. Monday, near Magic Mountain Parkway, according to Geovanni Sanchez, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD)

“We do have one confirmed DOA,” Sanchez said.

A 2010 Honda Civic driven by Rosario had been struck by another vehicle, and the driver had been ejected, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report of the incident.

“Due to an unknown reason, (Rosario) made an unsafe turning movement to the left and collided into the center divider concrete K-rail. The crash caused the vehicle to deflect to the west, in front of (the second vehicle) who was in the southbound #3 lane,” read the incident report.

Rosario was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.

A SIGAlert was issued for several hours due to the collision, with all lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway closed at Highway 126/Newhall Ranch Road, according to CHP incident logs.

This collision is under investigation by the CHP Newhall Area Office. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the CHP’s Newhall office at (661) 600-1600.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
