The man killed in a crash on the I-5 Freeway in Castaic has been identified, officials said Sunday.
Travis Jordan, 39, of El Paso, Texas, died in a solo-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
The yellow Suzuki motorcycle and its rider had first been noticed at 11:47 a.m. by a Newhall Area California Highway Patrol Officer making a traffic stop on another vehicle on the Southbound 5 Freeway at Smokey Bear Road, according to Josh Greengard, Public Information Officer for the Newhall Area Office.
“He observed a high-speed motorcycle pass his location in excess of 100 mph. The unit advised the Los Angeles Communications Center (LACC) of the high-speed motorcycle, who then broadcast a BOLO to Newhall Area units,” said Greengard.

Just a few minutes later, at around 12:01 p.m., the LACC began receiving calls reporting a motorcycle down in the area, on the southbound 5 Freeway just north of Hasley Canyon Road in Castaic.
Witnesses reported Jordan was observed splitting lanes which travelling in excess of 100 mph. A second witness advised a riderless motorcycle had passed him just north of Hasley Canyon Road. The motorcycle came to rest in the center divider, partially blocking the number one lane, according to CHP reports.
A good Samaritan located Jordan, who had been ejected, on the Old Road approximately 1,500 feet north of where the motorcycle came to rest, according to CHP officials.
Jordan was pronounced dead on scene, prompting response from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Sorry you died dude, but if you’re stupid enough to do 100+ on motorcycle on a So Cal freeway, go got what you deserved. Should have stayed in El Paso. RIP…
That’s so sad & didn’t need to happen if he would’ve obeyed the traffic laws. It’s a senseless way to end one’s life.
RIP & may you find peace in Heaven.
