An individual was killed in a 5 Freeway crash involving multiple vehicles south of the Newhall Pass Tuesday morning, officials said.
Around 8:05 a.m. first responders received reports of a traffic collision on the southbound 5 Freeway near the 405 Freeway, said Brian Humphrey, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
One person was killed in the crash, according to Humphrey.
Initial reports were that the crash involved four vehicles, a trash truck, SUV, big rig and a Homeland Security Patrol vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs.
No other injuries were reported in the crash as 8:40 a.m., according to the LAFD.
As a result of the crash, officers with the CHP issued a SigAlert blocking the No. 4, 5 and 6 lanes just north of the 405 Freeway for an estimated three hours.

Traffic is impacted on the 5 Freeway south near the 210 Freeway, according to officials.
