One Killed In Acton Crash, ‘Alcohol And/Or Drugs’ Factor In Collision

One person was killed in an Acton crash Sunday evening, with “alcohol and/or drugs” suspected to be a factor in the collision, officials said.

On Sept. 20 at about 8:50 p.m., a 1995 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on State Route 14, south of Mountain Springs Road, according to Officer Monique Mischeaux, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Antelope Valley Office.

For an unknown reason, the driver steered the Toyota in a westerly direction across the right shoulder and off the roadway, according to Micheaux.

“(The vehicle) became airborne and collided with the bottom of a descending embankment where it then collided with a barbed-wire fence,” Micheaux said in a statement.

After crashing into the fence, the vehicle continued out of control onto Forest View Road, which parallels Highway 14, where it overturned and traveled off the roadway, according to investigators.

The vehicle traveled down another descending embankment and collided with a chain-link fence where it came to rest, according to Micheaux.

As a result of this collision, the driver was ejected from the vehicle which resulted in him sustaining fatal injuries, according to the spokesperson.

A Palmdale resident, whose identity is not being released pending notification of next of kin, was killed in the crash, according to the CHP.

A passenger in the vehicle sustained major injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, according to investigators.

“Tragically, another life was lost here in the Antelope Valley,” Micheaux said. “This is the 28th person killed so far this year in the CHP Antelope Valley jurisdiction, SR-14 and unincorporated Los Angeles County. You can help us prevent these senseless deaths by obeying all traffic signs and signals, obeying the speed limit, not driving or walking impaired, and always wearing your seatbelt.”

Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Officer S. Breen at the CHP Antelope Valley office at (661) 948-8541.

  1. WHAT?! Someone driving here in SCV while drinking or on drugs?! That NEVER happens here!!! ?
Seriously, this is another pandemic we have going on here! How many more are gonna die this way? When will we EVER learn! Well, considering there’s actually people walking around that like Donald Chump, I suppose never! Some people are completely stupid, and there’s no cure for that! So, it will continue! That’s the way it goes…….

    • Why are you blaming Trump for a stupid accident of a drunken driver in
California. maybe this person would still be alive if he hadn’t been impaired by alcohol or drugs. I’m thankful he didn’t kill anyone else. Wake up people and slow down. Don’t drink and drive. Common sense
      should prevail.

    • Arn, you should check yourself.
      1) You make light of loss of life. Why? What’s so amusing to you? Where is your compassion for another? Imagine what that family faces right now and you’re making jokes?
      2) You insult my President? How dare you? You bring politics into this?
You owe that family an apology. And you owe the POTUS an apology.
Shut off CNN and go read a book, read 10 books… in a row. Then reflect on your comment. Be a better human tomorrow.

      • Cali, check YOURSELF! I wasn’t making any jokes about anyone getting hurt or killed! The remark was because KHTS seems amazed that an accident was caused by alcohol or drugs! It happens all the time! Same old story! My point was simply that I’m sickened at how many have to die because people don’t use their heads and they drive drunk/stoned!
The other comment was amazement how there are some dumb schmucks who actually like Chump! And that’s obviously YOU! Point is, some people (like you), are stupid, and you can’t cure that! As far as an apology to Orange Hitler—FORGET IT! He’s gonna rot in hell! As far as an apology to your family, I’m sorry any of you were born! Happy? There you go! ?

  2. Why the rush to get where you are going? get up earlier and drive slower…..that is what i do. better to be there safe then dead…. or late….

  3. I live in Acton and I seriously do not understand why there are not highway patrols or cops on this freeway. I have a 15, almost 16 year old, learning to drive and it gives me anxiety knowing that she is going to be driving on this crazy freeway.
