One person was killed as the result of a solo-vehicle crash on the I-5 Freeway in Castaic Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a crash on the southbound 5 Freeway near Lake Hughes Road.
“It came in as a vehicle over the side,” said Franklin Lopez with the department.
Initial reports from the California Highway Patrol indicated that a white Chrysler was “speeding in lanes” before the crash.

One person was killed as the result of the crash, according to Lopez.
The exact cause of the crash was unknown as of Wednesday afternoon. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
