One Hospitalized After Driver Experiences Cardiac Arrest, Hits Another Car In Newhall

One person was transported to a local hospital Friday afternoon after a driver in Newhall experienced cardiac arrest behind the wheel, causing them to crash into another vehicle.

At around 2:40 p.m. Friday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a traffic collision at the intersection of Wiley Canyon Road and Lyons Avenue in Newhall.

“It initially came in as a traffic collision (between) two vehicles,” said Frank Lopez, spokesperson for the department.

After units arrived on scene, officials updated the call to reflect that one of the drivers had experience cardiac arrest, according to Lopez.

First responders proceeded to give one individual CPR before loading them into the back of an ambulance. That person was then transported to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

Traffic in the area was temporarily blocked off as units worked to clear the scene.
