SIG-Alert Issued After Jackknifed Big Rig Leaks Fuel On 5 Freeway

A SIG-Alert has been issued Saturday after a multi-vehicle traffic collision resulted in a jackknifed big rig spilling diesel fuel on the northbound I-5 Freeway.

At around 12:05 p.m. Saturday, officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department received reports of a traffic collision on the northbound I-5 Freeway just north of the 210 Freeway.

“(It’s a) multi-vehicle collision in the truck lanes, involving a jackknifed big rig leaking diesel fuel from (a) punctured 100 gallon tractor,” reads an alert issued by the department.

Once they got on scene, firefighters reported that no fire had been ignited, and began working to contain the spill. The status of the motorists involved in the crash was not immediately available as of Saturday afternoon.
