Sunday Morning Crash Kills One In Canyon Country

A crash in Canyon Country early Sunday morning left one driver dead and the vehicle “sheared in two pieces.”

Just after 2:20 a.m. Sunday, officials with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Office received reports of a solo-vehicle crash on the southbound 14 freeway north of Sand Canyon Road, according to Officer Josh Greengard with the CHP.

“Upon arriving on scene, units located a solo vehicle fatal crash,” Greengard said. “The initial investigation indicates the vehicle left the roadway and onto the right shoulder.”

The vehicle then reportedly collided with both a metal beam guard rail and overhead freeway sign pole, according to Greengard.

“The vehicle was sheared in two pieces and the driver/sole occupant sustained fatal injuries,” he said.

Freeway lanes were not impacted, according to Greengard.

The identity of the victim was not made public as of Sunday morning, awaiting the next of kin to be informed.

  1. The City should rename Central Park after them.

    • Oh yeah, because this is the same thing, right? Are you for real? What’s your problem? Someone dying in a car crash and someone being MURDERED at school….. are NOT even remotely close. Gracie & Dominic were at school because it is a requirement by the government. Driving is not. Nobody forced that person to drive. I’m not saying my heart doesn’t go out to him & his family….. it’s a very sad incident. However, your comment is just stupid. Grow up. Let the Muehlbergers & Blackwells be. Unless the sign, somehow interferes w/ur life on an every day bases…. I suggest you try to find a new hobby.

Let’s just all get a long please.

      • Wow REALLY? Your going off on someone else?!? Check your own mouth! That driver is someone’s child and you don’t have a damn clue whether they were driving bc of Gov.. ie a job! And the fact they were in a car does not make their death any less sad nor any less painful for the families! Why don’t you take your own advice and shut your pie whole on a community site where the persons family could see that Santa Clarita has so much insensitive trash living in it!

        • This was my daughter that crashed that night m please don’t say anything if you don’t know the facts my daughter was a safe Driver that happened to fall asleep on the wheel be more respectful if you don’t have any nice to say don’t say anything.

      • You have no idea why they were the person was driving. (Speaking of stupid comments)
No life cut short matters more than someone elses.

      • Telling someone their comment is stupid and to get a new hobby, then says lets all get along. HYPOCRITE

  2. This thread is a sad commentary on the current state of humanity.
