One person was struck and killed by a train at a Newhall railroad crossing in Santa Clarita on Thursday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, emergency responders received reports of a woman that had possibly been hit by a train in Newhall near the intersection of 13th Street and Railroad Avenue, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Deputies are on scene assessing now,” Arriaga said.
The identity of the pedestrian is unavailable as of Thursday morning.

The crossing at 13th Street and Railroad Avenue is expected to remain closed pending investigation into the incident, according to Arriaga. An alternative route via Placerita Canyon from Sierra Highway has been opened to allow access to the north side of the tracks.
AV Line 212 to Los Angeles is stopped between Santa Clarita and Newhall due to striking a person on the tracks. Delays are unknown, updates to follow.

The Metrolink Antelope Valley Line 212 to Los Angeles has been delayed for an unknown duration due to the collision, Metrolink is working on alternative transportation for passengers on the AV Line.
