Two Hospitalized After 14 Freeway Crash In Newhall Pass

A 14 Freeway crash in the Newhall Pass on Thursday morning sent two people to the hospital and caused a traffic back-up, officials said.

Around 8:50 a.m. Thursday, first responders received reports of a four-vehicle traffic collision on the southbound 14 Freeway near the 5 Freeway, said Austin Bennett, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“(Paramedics) requested a second ambulance,” Bennett said.

As a result of the crash, one patient was transported to an area hospital by paramedics, according to Fire officials.

The second ambulance was not canceled; however Fire officials could not confirm if a second patient was transported, Bennett said.

“If they were transported, it was (a minor injury),” Bennett said.

The condition of the patients are unknown as of Thursday morning, officials said.

The No. 1 lane was blocked as a result of the crash as of 9:30 a.m., according to CHP traffic logs.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
