The northbound transition road, between Sylmar and Newhall, is expected to be closed until at least 7:30 a.m., blocking any traffic attempting to get onto the 14 Freeway from the northbound 5 Freeway.

The exact circumstances of the crash were not immediately available, an official with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The condition of the other injured victims was not disclosed Friday morning.

As of 6:30 a.m., traffic near the split does not appear to be heavily impacted, but drivers heading north into Santa Clarita are encouraged avoid the freeway and use Sierra Highway or the Old Road as detours.

The victims killed in the crash was identified as of Friday morning.
