UPDATE: Four Rescued After Vehicle Goes 100 Feet Over The Side Of Sand Canyon Road

Four people were rescued and taken to nearby trauma centers after their vehicle went 100 feet over the side of Sand Canyon Road Saturday morning.

UPDATE (10:15 a.m.): Officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department rescued four people after their vehicle went 100 feet over the side of Sand Canyon Road near Mile Marker 5.2.

“They were taken to nearby trauma centers,” said Supervisor Pickett with the department.

While officials found two vehicles in the area over the side, one was later determined to be abandoned, according to Pickett.

The exact condition of the four transported individuals was unknown as of Saturday morning.

(Original Post): At around 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of an expanded traffic collision on Sand Canyon Rd. near Mile Marker 5.2.

“We had a report of a vehicle over the side,” said Supervisor Pickett with the department. “We then heard it was two vehicles over the side of a 100-foot embankment.”

While officials could not initially locate the vehicles when they first got on scene, they did find three individuals who were 30 feet down the side of the road.

“We’re trying to determine if they were ejected or if they walked up,” Pickett said. “We’re still trying to rescue them right now.”

The three were located using the help of Copter 12 with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“Anytime we have a vehicle over the side, we start an air unit,” Pickett said.

The exact condition of the three individuals was unknown as of Saturday morning.
