Vehicle Struck By Metrolink Train In Sylmar, One Person Injured

A vehicle has been struck by a Metrolink train in Sylmar, halting the Antelope Valley line Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The incident was reported at about 1:50 pm. Tuesday near the 14800 block of San Fernando Road in the Newhall Pass, according to Brian Humphrey with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

One person was injured when an SUV was struck by Metrolink Antelope Valley Line Train 216. There are no reported injuries to the crew or passengers aboard the train, which remains at the scene, according to Humphrey.

The condition of the victim is unknown as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Fire officials.

There is no estimate of when the AV line will be reopened as of 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to Paul Gonzales, spokesperson for Metrolink.

This is the second Metrolink-related incident in the San Fernando Valley on Tuesday, according to officials.

Further down on San Fernando Road, on the same rail line, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a train, said Fire officials.

The gender and age of the victim are unknown as of Tuesday afternoon.
