One Pedestrian Hospitalized After Avoiding Being Struck By Truck Near Wendy’s

A pedestrian was injured trying to avoid being struck by a driver in the parking lot of a Wendy’s fast-food restaurant on Lyons Avenue Monday afternoon, officials said.

The call was first reported at 12:18 p.m. Monday, near Lyons Avenue and the 5 Freeway with Los Angeles County Fire officials had arrived on scene about five minutes later, according to Leslie Lua, a spokesperson for the department.

“There was a person in front of Wendy’s who fell and hit their head,” said Lua.

The victim fell in the parking lot, attempting to avoid a collision with a vehicle, according to witnesses on scene.

“We were entering the restaurant when the pickup truck started to back up. The driver didn’t see us. My friend, the victim, started to walk back to avoid being hit, fell over and hit her head really hard,” said a friend of the victim who witnessed the incident.

The injured pedestrian was transported in an ambulance to a local hospital for treatment in unknown condition, according to Fire officials.
