This is happening because Valencia Water Company, then owned by Newhall Land and Farming. used cheap PVC plastic pipes for water mains instead of investing in ductile iron that would have lased 50 Plus years. This was cheaper and so brought more savings and profits to the shareholders – Newhall Land and Farming. When the Castaic Lake Bought this water agency for 73 million (a high price) in a sweetheart deal in 2012, they bought all their expensive pollution problems and cheap pipes which we tax payers now have to pay for. When thye merged and formed a new mega district, they hoped you would forget all this. When your water rates go up, you might want to think about what caused it.
