Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative To Host Memorial Backpack Fundraiser

On August 22 and 23, the Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative is set to host a fundraiser with a giveaway prize.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the normal large crowd for the Collaborative’s fundraiser walk will be moved to a “virtual” one. Participants wanting to raise money for the Veteran Services Collaborative are encouraged to print out a runner’s bib and walk in their own neighborhood, parks, or trails.

Part of the fundraiser includes a backpack contest. The participant walking with the “most original backpack” is set to win a prize.

“The event is open to all and they just have to go to our website or Facebook page and download a runner’s bib if they would like to wear it while they walk,” said Jeffery Stabile, with the Collaborative. “Participants can then send their backpack pictures for entry into our Most Original Backpack Contest.”

The Collaborative encourages family, friends, co-workers to either join in the walk or sponsor participants. Videos and/or photos taken and sent to the Collaborative while you participate, and we’ll post them on Facebook as you walk.

“Once the Memorial Walk is completed, participants can go to our website or Facebook Page and select Donate.  If anyone would just like to provide a donation they can utilize the same process.”

To donate visit the official website and click on ‘Donate’ or if it is preferable to send a check, address it to:
