108-Degree Temperatures Expected In Santa Clarita Weather Forecast

Triple-digit temperatures are expected for the Santa Clarita weather forecast, with the heatwave expected to last more than a week, officials said Wednesday.

A heatwave is coming with temperatures warming up to around 100 degrees Wednesday with temperatures expected to be even hotter come the weekend, said David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS).

“An excessive heat watch starts Friday morning through Monday evening,” Sweet said. “By Friday, temperatures will heat up quite a bit.”

Beginning Friday, temperatures are forecasted to be between 101 to 108 degrees, according to Sweet.

Saturday and Sunday, temperatures are expected to be around 106 degrees with temperatures cooling slightly by Monday, Sweet said.

By Monday, temperatures are expected to be around 98 to 104, however, starting Tuesday temperatures are expected to be over 100 degrees through the end of next week.

As of Wednesday morning, officials with the National Weather Service have issued an excessive heat warning, but could be changed to a heat advisory, Sweet said.

“The difference between a heat advisory and an excessive heat warning is a heat advisory means that sensitive individuals, like the elderly, young children and those with health conditions will be subject to heat illness because of the warm temperatures,” Sweet said. “An excessive heat warning, anybody can be subject to heat illnesses.”

Due to temperatures exceeding triple digits over the next nine days, officials are urging Santa Clarita residents to stay indoors if possible.

“The best thing to do is stay inside and in the air conditioning, and be careful to not leave children or pets in the car,” Sweet said.

Santa Clarita residents are also being encouraged to not exercise during the peak hours of the day, and to exercise in the early morning or after sunset, Sweet added.

With any heatwave, officials with the National Weather Service have raised the fire conditions to an elevated fire risk, however, no fire advisories are in effect as of Wednesday morning.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
