Strong winds are in the Santa Clarita weekend forecast, with peak gusts of up to 80 miles per hour.
On Friday, the National Weather Service Los Angeles tweeted a warning for strong and widespread winds on Friday night through Saturday. Wind speeds are predicted to reach between 50-70 miles per hour in the Los Angeles and Ventura Mountain, valleys and coastal areas. Isolated gusts of up to 80 miles per hour are also expected.
Slightly weaker winds are expected from the north and northeast, affecting the Antelope and San Gabriel Valleys, as well as the Santa Lucia Mountains.
As a result, weather officials are warning residents about the possible dangers of high wind speeds which include fallen trees and branches and power outages.
