Elevated Fire Risk Due To Dry, Warm Conditions Expected In Santa Clarita Weather Forecast

Dry and warm conditions with gusty winds are expected for the Santa Clarita Valley weather forecast Monday resulting in elevated fire conditions, officials said.

On Monday, temperatures are expected to be the warmest with the lowest humidity levels before a cooling trend begins for the rest of the week, said Eric Boldt, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service (NWS).

“Today and tomorrow temperatures are going to be in the low 90s with a cooling trend starting Tuesday,” Boldt said.

Humidity levels are expected to be around 20 percent Monday with southwesterly winds gusting up to about 35 mph, Boldt said.

Due to the low humidity levels and gusty wind speeds an elevated fire risk warning has been put in place for the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys, according to Boldt.

Starting Tuesday, through the end of the week, temperatures are expected to cool down into the mid-80s with rising humidity levels and diminishing winds speeds, Boldt said.

Although conditions are expected to improve, the threat of a brush fire is still possible, according to officials.

Along with the warm and dry conditions Monday air quality is unhealthy for sensitive individuals, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District, (AQMD) forecast.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
