Another storm is being predicted for the Santa Clarita weather forecast, bringing up to one and a half inches of precipitation with heavy rain at times, officials said Tuesday.
The upcoming storm is expected to start around 10 p.m. Tuesday evening and last through Wednesday afternoon, said Tom Fisher, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
“The heaviest rains will be during the morning rush between 4 and 9 a.m.,” Fisher said. “Heavy showers are expected with this storm.”
The Santa Clarita Valley is expected to get anywhere from three-quarters of an inch to an inch and a half of rain, Fisher said.
The rain is expected to taper off by Wednesday afternoon with some scattered showers, according to officials.
Despite last week’s storm closing the Grapevine down for hours, snow is not expected to be a concern.
“Snow levels are around 7,000 feet and are expected to get three to six inches,” Fisher said.
Although heavy rain is expected at times, there are no major concerns for the recent burn areas, according to officials.
However, residents in the burn areas are encouraged to monitor the storm in the event conditions change.
Free sand and sandbags are available to anyone who needs them, and can be found at most Los Angeles County Fire stations throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
