High winds hit the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas on Wednesday in the first major Santa Ana wind event of the year.
Overnight, high winds whipped through the Santa Clarita Valley, toppling trees and endangering drivers on some roadways, according to reports from the National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles.
Wind speeds at the Magic Mountain Truck Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains were recorded at 104 mph, according to the NWS.

Winds are expected to remain strong Wednesday and weaken on Thursday, according to NWS officials.
With dry conditions and high winds, residents are cautioned to be aware of the ongoing critical fire weather and wind conditions across southwest California, including Santa Clarita.
