Hurricane Kay To Bring Rain, Thunderstorms To Santa Clarita Weather Forecast

Hurricane Kay is expected to bring rain and a chance of thunderstorms to the Santa Clarita weather forecast this weekend.

An excessive heat warning is still in the Santa Clarita weather forecast through Friday, with a 15 to 20 degree cooldown by Saturday when rain is expected to move over the area, said Eric Boldt, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

“Winds will be kind of a Santa Ana direction, around 15 to 30 mph,” Boldt said. “We’ll stay with the same easterly wind through Saturday.”
Due to Hurricane Kay moving toward the Southern tip of California, turning into a tropical storm, Santa Clarita could see more thunderstorm activity similar to last Sunday, according to officials.

“There is a potential for thunderstorms beginning tonight through Saturday,” Boldt said. “The beneficial part of this storm though will be the rain.”

Santa Clarita is expected to get around a quarter inch of rain, according to Boldt.

However, if thunderstorms pass over our Valley, heavy down pores can occur with a chance of “down burst winds,” Boldt said.

While this storm is bringing Santa Ana conditions across the Santa Clarita Valley, no major fire warnings have been put into place with rain accompanying the wind.

Temperatures in the Santa Clarita weather forecast are expected to drop down into the high 70s on Saturday, with conditions in the 80s Sunday through the end of next week, according to officials.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
