The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that possible rain showers are expected for Memorial Day weekend in the Santa Clarita Valley.

On Saturday, Santa Clarita is projected to experience a cloudy sky with a rain drizzle in the morning and an afternoon high in the mid-60s to 70 degrees, according to Kristen Stewart, with the NWS.

Saturday night is expected to be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers after midnight with a low of 50 degrees.

For Sunday, showers are likely throughout the day and the evening, with highs in the mid-50s during the day, and temperatures dipping into the mid-40s in the evening, according to officials. Reports of thunderstorms are no longer expected to occur in Santa Clarita but are expected in other areas.

“Thunderstorms are only projected for the northern mountain slopes,” Stewart said.

The average high temperature for May 2019 is 68.9 degrees with a normal high of 76 degrees.

“We are experiencing below average temperatures,” Stewart said

After the rain over the weekend, temperatures are expected to increase, with highs reaching the 80’s on Wednesday, according to weather officials.
