Rain, ‘Strong Winds’ In Santa Clarita Weather Forecast

Another “strong storm” is in the Santa Clarita weather forecast with a chance of heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

Yet another storm is expected in the Santa Clarita Valley forecast beginning late Monday night into Tuesday, said David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS).

“We have another rather strong storm. Late tonight and into tomorrow will be the main part of storm,” Sweet said.

The upcoming storm could bring anywhere from 1 and a half to 3 inches of rain in the lower elevations, according to Sweet.

“Above 6,000 feet, we are expecting 2 to 5 feet of snow,” Sweet said.

NWS officials say, a chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible for Tuesday.

In addition to the wet weather, this storm is also expected to bring “very strong winds,” with wind warnings and advisories in place for much of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, according to Sweet.

Up to 50 mph wind gust are expected mid day Tuesday, diminishing into the evening, according to Sweet.

By Wednesday, there will be some lingering showers and cooler temperatures.

Highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 50s Wednesday, which is 10 to 15 degrees cooler for this time of year, according to Sweet.

NWS officials are tracking a storm that could hit California next week, however, it is not clear if it will impact Santa Clarita.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
