As high Santa Ana Winds shook Santa Clarita Wednesday and Thursday, meteorologists predict calm, but cool, conditions for the second half of the winter season for residents.
This time of year marks the middle of the meteorological winter, which comes to an end on the final day of February. According to AccuWeather, the West Coast will continue to experience cold temperatures while the East Coast welcomes spring-like conditions.
California, with its own unique weather system, is set to experience a blend of both for the rest of the winter season, with consistent cool temperatures in the 60s, clear skies and the occasional drizzle.
“The late-winter and early-spring storms in California may not be as frequent or as furious as the storms that kicked off 2023,” stated Accuweather officials.
The rest of January is forecasted to be cold with clear skies with the exception of Sunday when a slight chance of rain is predicted, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The calmer forecasts come after the abundant rainfall experienced early in the month and the high wind warnings issued this week on Jan. 25 and Jan 26.
According to the NWS, Magic Mountain Truck Trails experienced the highest wind rates, with 112 mph gusts.
Santa Ana Winds are predicted to calm down as Thursday evening progresses.
