Tuesday’s storm could bring anywhere from one to three inches of rain to the Santa Clarita Valley, according to Kristen Stewart, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS).

“South-facing mountains could expect four inches of rain by the end of the day,” Stewart said.

Rain is expected to be the heaviest late Tuesday afternoon and is set to taper off later in the night, she said.

Another storm is expected to move into the area Wednesday night and last through Thursday.

“This storm could bring two to four inches of rain to the foothill areas,” Stewart said.

On average, Santa Clarita receives 3.8 inches of rain during the month of January.

For this time of the month, Santa Clarita has currently received above-normal rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.

“Saugus received 1.34 inches of rain between Sunday at 7 p.m. until Monday at 7 p.m.,” Stewart said.

However, Tuesday and Thursday’s storm is not expected to be as cold as Monday’s, according to officials.

“Snow levels are between 5,500 to 6,500 feet, which shouldn’t affect the Grapevine, and snow levels will be higher tomorrow,” Stewart said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
