Starting Tuesday, Santa Clarita Valley residents can expect to start seeing showers around lunchtime, according to Stuart Seto, weather specialist with The National Weather Service.

“There is a pretty good storm moving into Santa Clarita around 11 a.m. and rain chances will continue through the evening,”  said Seto.

On Wednesday there is a slight chance of rain with southwest winds blowing at 10 to 20 mph.

There is a 60 to 70 percent chance of showers expected to start Wednesday evening and lasting through Saturday afternoon, Seto said.

“By Saturday night the rain should be gone,” the weather specialist said.

The Santa Clarita Valley could receive between 1 to 2 inches of rainfall over the week.

The approaching storm is expected to be a colder storm, bringing cooler temperatures, said Seto.

Starting Wednesday through the weekend, daytime highs are expected to be in the low 60s with nighttime lows in the low 40s.

Snow levels will be dropping down to levels that could affect the Grapevine, according to officials.

“The best chance to see snow in the Grapevine is Friday night into Saturday morning,” said Seto. “If the Grapevine does get snow it is just going to be a dusting.”

But despite the rain, there are no concerns for the burn areas in Santa Clarita, he said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
