A winter storm system from the north is anticipated to bring the coldest weather to Southern California, including Santa Clarita,  in years, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The winter storm is predicted to begin Tuesday night with a low around 35 degrees, wind chill values as low as 25 degrees.  Winds could gust as high as 30 mph, according to the NWS.

Cold weather is forecasted into the weekend.

Rain is forecasted for Thursday through Friday with the potential of snow occurring in the mountains and high desert, according to the NWS.

The NWS anticipates late week winds ranging from 30 to 50 miles per hour in the valleys. Gusts in the mountains and foothills have the potential to reach 70 miles per hour.

The prolonged cold weather is Alaskan in origin and is a rare pattern, per the NWS.

  3. People have every right to be concerned. It’s not weak to recognize our role in climate change & make improvements.
