The Los Angeles Dodgers lost at home to the San Francisco Giants Sunday night 1-3 to split their season-opening series 2-2.
The Dodgers were dominant in the first two games of the four-game homestand, as they outscored the Giants a combined 17-2.

The second half of the series was a different story however as the Giants tightened up their pitching and were more able to contain the Dodgers’ potent offense.
Alex Wood had a rough outing to start the season in the third game of the series, as he gave up three runs through the first three innings.
Reliever Dennis Santana came in to replace Wood in the fourth inning, but quickly gave up two runs of his own to give the Giants a 5-1 lead.
The Dodgers nearly rallied late as they managed to close the gap to 5-4 in the final two innings, but it was too little, too late and they failed to make the comeback.
The series ended with another close contest Sunday night, but the Giants came out ahead with the 3-1 win.
The Giants started things off in the third inning when Daren Ruf drove in an RBI single off of Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urías.
In the bottom of the inning, Mookie Betts answered back with a single and proceeded to steal second base before he was driven in by Cody Bellinger on an RBI single to right field to tie things up 1-1.
Urías made it through two more innings unscathed and was relieved in the sixth by Brusdar Graterol who immediately gave up two hits and the go-ahead score before he was pulled and replaced by Adam Kolerek to finish the inning.
The Dodgers called on Pedro Baez in the seventh, who gave up the game’s final score on an RBI single to drive in Max Ruf to make it 1-3.
Going into the series the Dodgers were heavy favorites, as many MLB analysts have even projected them as the favorites to win the World Series.
They’ll have to turn things around quickly and win the games they’re supposed to win, however, as the unusual, shortened 60-game MLB regular season has turned what is traditionally a marathon of a season into something of a sprint.
The Dodgers now go on the road to face the Houston Astros for a two-game series which many fans have had marked on their calendar as its the first meeting of the teams since a 2019 investigation revealed that the Astros had illegally used a video camera system to steal signs during the 2017 regular season and postseason, which included the Astros win over the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series.
The series kicks off Tuesday night at 6:10 p.m.
