The Los Angeles Dodgers announced an opportunity for fans to purchase a cardboard cutout of themselves to be displayed during Dodgers home games in the 2020 MLB season.
With fans unable to attend MLB games in person in California for the foreseeable future, teams have been on the lookout for opportunities to liven up the atmosphere in the stadium for their television broadcasts.
An email went out to season ticket holders on Monday which announced an early opportunity for them to purchase their cutout in an exclusive presale on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The cutouts are available at two price points, based on where the cutout is to be located within Dodger Stadium.
Cutouts located at the Field Level or Loge Level are expected to be priced at $149, while locations in the Dugout Club or the new Pavillion Home Run Seats are slated to be priced at $299.
Those who do purchase a cutout will have the opportunity to take it home at the end of the season, according to the announcement.
The Dodgers are not alone in enacting this initiative, as several of the other MLB teams located in California have announced similar opportunities, including the Oakland A’s, San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
While the Dodgers have informed their season ticket holders of the sale, they have not yet announced a general sale.
The net proceeds from the sale of fan cutouts are expected to benefit the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, which contributes to addressing a number of issues impacting Los Angelinos, including improving health care, education, homelessness and social justice.
