Prior to the lockout, the season was scheduled to begin on March 31, however as further negotiations continued, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced two rounds of game cancellations, starting with the first two series of the season, according to Fox 11.
With a decision finally reached, the schedule has been updated to begin on April 7, featuring a full 162-game lineup which can be heard on KHTS Radio 98.1 FM and AM 1220 a Dodgers affiliate. All previously canceled games are expected to be made up through double-headers throughout the season, according to Fox 11.
“I am genuinely thrilled to be able to say that Major League Baseball is back and we’re going to play 162 games,” Manfred told Fox 11 on Thursday. “I do want to start by apologizing to our fans. I know that the last few months have been difficult. There’s a lot of uncertainty, at a point in time when there’s a lot of uncertainty in the world.”
The Dodgers are expected to open the 2022 season on April 8 at Coors Field in Denver against the Colorado Rockies.
