Three Dodger Pitchers Close To Making Return

Although the Dodgers ripped apart the Minnesota Twins to claim their ninth win in a row, some players who are on the injured list (IL) may still be planning to return this season to an already stacked Los Angeles team.

Three star pitchers may be set to return this season to help with the dominating bullpen. Brusdar Graterol, Blake Treinin and starting pitcher Dustin May could be returning before the postseason starts.

Brusdar Graterol is set to make a minor league rehab start for the Triple-A affiliate, Oklahoma City Dodgers, this Friday.

Graterol landed on the 15-day IL, July 14th, due to inflammation in the right shoulder. He last pitched against the Chicago Cubs in an 11-9 Dodgers win where he claimed his third save of the season.

Before Graterol’s shoulder inflamed, the Venezuela native was throwing for a 3.35 ERA striking out 35 batters in the process in 40.1 innings.

The next relief pitcher close to being back revitalized his career when he was traded from the Oakland A’s to Los Angeles in 2020 following a poor showing from him in 2019. Treinin was placed on the 60-day IL fairly early on in the season on April 20th due to shoulder discomfort.

Treinin who has garnered the fans’ trust when he comes in to relief pitch, usually in the eighth inning, made only three appearances in the 2022 season.

In 99 appearances for the Dodgers, Treinin has been able to pitch a 2.48 ERA in 101 innings. Treinin held a 1.98 ERA in 2021 with that being his best season since his 2018 campaign with the A’s.

Treinin is set to join his teammate, Graterol, in Triple-A for a rehab assignment on Friday. Treinin last pitched for the Dodgers on April 14th against the Cincinnati Reds in a 9-3 win for Los Angeles.

The young curly-haired ginger, May, who has been out for quite some time now, is nearing a return to the big league mound. The pitcher has been battling Tommy John Surgery recovery since May of 2021.

Los Angeles’s top young pitcher was just beginning to unlock his true potential before Tommy John halted his season early. May left the young season with a 2.74 ERA striking out 35 batters in the process.

Throughout the 24-year-old’s three-year tenure in the Dodger uniform, May has been able to not just show off his stunning hair, but also pound the strike zone in an emphatic fashion.

In three years, May has managed to put up 111 strikeouts in 31 games played averaging 3.5 a game.

Since the Dodgers lead the entire MLB in win-loss record holding a 76-33 as of Wednesday afternoon, adding three more quality pitchers to the heavily talented lineup has put the league’s focus on full force trying to stop the Dodgers.

The Dodgers wrap up their quick two-game series with the Minnesota Twins Wednesday evening as rookie Ryan Pepiot takes on Twins starter Sonny Gray beginning at 7:10 p.m. PDT at Dodger Stadium.

  1. I am “close”, but not, interested in this hyped non-sense.
