Caltrans, the California Department of Transportation will be implementing road closures as part of a project to construct a truck lane on the southbound I-5 between Pico Canyon Road/ Lyons Avenue and the Antelope Valley Freeway, SR-14.

Residents who live near Soledad Canyon Road and Honby Avenue should expect closures and delays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Monday, Aug. 5 to Tuesday, Aug. 13, as the city conducts improvement projects.

The groundbreaking ceremony for construction to begin on the Newhall Roundabout project is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. The construction site is at the corner of Main Street and 5th Street in Old Town Newhall.

A new project on the freeway will be the construction of a truck lane on the Southbound I-5 between Pico Canyon Road/ Lyons Avenue and the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14).

Two Caltrans construction projects will affect traffic on Interstate-5 this week. Caltrans will close southbound I-5 in the San Fernando Valley Monday night through Wednesday morning and reopen the Gorman Road on-ramp to northbound I-5 on Wednesday.
