Shawn Knight, 58, of Rancho Cucamonga, was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after colliding with another vehicle in the northbound HOV lane south of State Route 14.
The incident began when Samuel Sabedra, 25, of Sylmar, failed to stop behind Michael Towne, 62, of Simi Valley, in heavy traffic, according to a California Highway Patrol press release.
Sabedra’s Dodge Avenger collided with the rear-end of Towne’s Nissan Rogue. Then, Sabedra tried to move onto the center median after the collision, crossing into Knight’s path.
Sabedra’s vehicle vaulted Knight and his motorcycle over the concrete barrier into the center median.
He was treated on the scene for his injuries and later transported to Henry Mayo.
No arrests were made in connection with the incident and the investigation is still ongoing, according to the CHP.
