We have been recently accused of having numbers that appear to look artificial. In light of that we want to set the record straight about being spammed, see below how people could make up stories with only having one sided information.

Here’s the true story.

KHTS is hyperlocal.

We focus on the 300,000+ residents who live in the Santa Clarita Valley. We employ our own full-time award winning news staff, covering local stories over our airwaves, on our KHTS website, through our daily email news briefs and on social media.

The majority (67%) of our broadcast audience is tuning in their cars while driving around our valley.

They are catching us in 20-25 minute increments as they drive their children to school, go to work, run errands and drive around to various activities for their kids after school. Our social media numbers and demographics mirror our other media platforms. Our total US Facebook followers are 18,010 fans*** and 9,000+ followers on KHTS Twitter.

Our audience is extremely involved and active in our community. They own homes, have kids in our stellar schools and participate in many of the local events available throughout the year. KHTS, through our trusted branding and multi-media platforms is the perfect way to reach these active residents.

***Our KHTS Facebook page, like many other major brand pages are targets for spamming. Several years ago, we were spammed by followers from Turkey. Facebook does not allow for the deletion of followers (except for the most recent 250). Our only option was to block out any additional followers from Turkey, which we did. Unfortunately, it still left us with over 30,000 followers from Turkey on our Facebook page. We have sent many requests to Facebook to have these deleted.

Facebook has not yet agreed to do so. We don’t do any “best of contest” numbers purposely to inflate our numbers on our website or social media so our advertisers have a pure organic number.

    I am a Liberian refugee living in Boston USA. I came across this station through a friend of mine who lives on the west coast.
    We were discussing about the Liberian civil war and he told me to check out hometown regarding what I wanted to inform my community in America about.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
