Volunteers Needed To Help Valencia High Seniors

khts_givingbackVolunteers are needed to help evaluate senior projects at Valencia High School. The evaluation is the final step for graduating seniors and completes their Career Exploration Projects.

The volunteers would need to be at the school from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 13 to conduct the evaluations.

The intent of this program is to reinforce the relevancy of the learning experience while producing a student who is better prepared to enter the emerging work force.

The Career Exploration Project (CEP) is offered to all Valencia High School seniors. This course is a culmination of their high school experiences. By completing the CEP curriculum, the students have a unique opportunity to demonstrate and apply all their years of education; they become explorers, creators, risk takers, decision makers, independent learners, and leaders.

All components of this project are linked to a topic selected by the student and approved by the Career Exploration Project Coordinator. This process links the student’s personal interest to the exploration of a corresponding career pathway.

Each student will present an 8-10 minute oral presentation with audio/visual aids. Then they will be questioned by the panel of evaluators.

Participants in the evaluation process will ask the students a series of standard questions and complete an evaluation sheet for each student. Comments related to the presentation may also be included.

To get involved, contact Elizabeth Wilson, School-To-Career Coordinator, Valencia High School, 661-294-1188 x 101, or emailing ewilson@hartdistrict.org.
