Suspicious Package Feeds Frenzy In Industrial Center

khts_crimeDid someone order a pizza?

After the buildings were evacuated, the road closed, emergency crews placed sandbags and bomb squad experts suited up, the mysterious carton – shaped like a pizza delivery box – was found to contain food.

Sheriff and Fire officials responded to a late-morning call about a suspicious package found at an office on Avenue Crocker and did everything they were trained to do.

Then a few hours later, they breathed a collective sigh of relief.

The sheriff’s station received a call about 11:30 a.m. alerting them to the unfamiliar bundle in the hallway. The watch commander told KHTS that the building had been evacuated and traffic restricted on Avenue Crocker, which runs in front of the affected building.

L.A. County Fire Hazardous Materials arrived and began to secure the location, adding sandbags around the area for protection as they awaited the arrival of Sheriff’s Arson and Explosives investigators.

The explosives team x-rayed the package and found it to contain food. No word on if it was spicy.
