The City of Santa Clarita will replace the existing pedestrian bridge crossing John Russell Drive with a pre-fabricated steel truss bridge beginning Monday, June 15, 2015. Construction will occur from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is expected to be completed onTuesday, September 1, 2015.
This project is part of the City’s Paseo Bridge Replacement Program, which replaces pedestrian bridges that have reached the end of their useful life. The existing paseo over John Russell Drive is the one of three remaining timber bridges in the City planned for replacement. The project includes removal and replacement of the foundation and abutments, and the reconstruction of a portion of the bridge approaches.
Temporary lane and road closures may be in effect on John Russell Drive throughout the project. Residents who regularly commute through the area are encouraged to pay attention to construction and detour signs. Reduced speed through the construction zone will be enforced for the safety of the public and workers.
