County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who represents Santa Clarita as part of the county’s fifth district; Daryl Osby, chief of LACoFD; representatives from State Senator Scott Wilk’s office, Rep. Steve Knight’s office, Assemblyman Dante Acosta’s office; and members of the Santa Clarita City Council attended the event.

The officials all grabbed shovels and moved the first mounds of dirt where the new Fire station will stand.

Station 104 is being built on Golden Valley Road in Canyon Country, not far from where the street becomes Newhall Ranch Road.

For the last decade, firefighter personnel and equipment have been working out of a temporary Fire station on Golden Valley Road, a few miles from where the permanent location has been planned.

Since April, firefighter personnel and equipment had to move and operate out of Fire Station 150, as the temporary station was shut down to make room for the new headquarters for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, which held a groundbreaking ceremony in July.

The new permanent Fire Station 104 is scheduled to be completed in November 2019, according to officials.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
