The event included performances by several choirs from local elementary and high schools, as well as the Santa Clarita Children’s Choir.

“Really this is about the children,” said Sheriff’s Station Captain Robert Lewis. “Them being able to present their talents and being able to support a great thing for everybody else.”

Every year, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies collect toys and gifts to distribute to children in need during the holiday season.

One young Santa Clarita resident came by the event with an armload of toys, explaining to event organizers that she had chosen to donate gifts rather than receive them for her birthday.

Event organizers noted they are interested in offering her a reward in thanks for her generosity.

One of the defining aspects of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Annual Holiday Toy Drive is that all of the toys go to local families, as opposed to being taken elsewhere.

“The toys we gain here in Santa Clarita through our toy drive stay in the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Lewis. “We try and benefit the families that are less fortunate during the Christmas holiday season.”

To participate in the toy drive, residents can bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station lobby anytime between now and Dec. 21.

In addition to the Sheriff’s Station lobby, other drop off locations accepting donations on behalf of the station include the following:
