Now that the regular season has ended, six teams remain as they prepare for tipoff on Wednesday evening.
Some teams barely squeezed into the playoffs, and others like Saugus, who are the Foothill League Champions, have dominated their way to it, but what was accomplished in the regular season means nothing now.
Saugus:
After finishing 21-7, with just one league loss, the Centurions were crowned Foothill League Champions for the first time in over four decades.
But the Centurions now leave Foothill League opponents behind to focus on Valley Christian in the first round of the Division 2AA CIF Playoffs.
Both squads are heading into the game with momentum, as Valley Christian has won their last three games, and Saugus has won their past four.
The Centurions hope to make some noise and use their home-court advantage when they take on Valley Christian at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
West Ranch:
The Wildcats (14-13) head into the Division 1 CIF Playoffs looking to make a statement and make a strong playoff push.
It is not going to be a cakewalk because West Ranch will be taking on the 20-8 Edison Chargers.
UNLV commit James Evans is going to be a key player for the Wildcats in their home game Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Valencia:
The Vikings are set to be on the road for the first round of the playoffs when they face off against the Paraclete Spirits (22-6) Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Paraclete has been nearly unstoppable at home, so it will be imperative that Valencia comes out strong and does not allow the Spirits to gain a sizable lead.
The Vikings will need senior Bryce Bedgood to replicate the success he has had all season long by putting down shot after shot.
Canyon:
After a late-season rally, the Cowboys (17-10) have found themselves in the Division 3AA playoffs ready to take on Oaks Christian (18-10).
While Oaks Christian is a force to be reckoned with, Canyon is battle-tested and ready for all challenges.
In a match-up that can go either way, the Cowboys will need more than just their key players to do well if they want a chance at taking down the Lions.
Canyon and Oaks Christian are set for tip-off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Hart:
The Indians (14-13) have made the playoffs for the second year in a row via an at-large bid but look to have a different outcome than last year’s playoff trip.
Hart is going to have their hands full because they have El Dorado (18-10) who went undefeated in league play to become the North Hills League Champions.
If there is anything that Hart has learned about themselves it is that they can not be counted out.
The Indians will need to come with everything they have to stay alive in the playoffs and it all begins Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Castaic:
Similar to Hart, the Coyotes (14-14) have made the playoffs by being an at-large team but the big difference is that Castaic did not win a single league game this season.
Despite their inability to pick up a league win, the Coyotes had 14 wins in non-league games, which got them into the Division 5AA opener.
If Castaic can play like they have against non-league opponents, they have a good chance of beating California Lutheran (15-6).
But if the Coyotes come with anything but their best it will be a long night because Cal. Lutheran is on a six-game hot streak and just won the Arrowhead League Championship.
Castaic looks to upset Cal. Lutheran Wednesday at 7 p.m.
