Eye On The Valley – iLead Lancaster, Mayor Bill Miranda– January 24, 2025

Host: Matt Watson

Guests: Deborah Autrey, Mayor Bill Miranda

On today’s show, your host Matt Watson talks with Deborah Autrey, school Director at iLead Lancaster. Together, they talk about the program of SCVi which gives learners and their family’s flexibility in their schoolwork.  They approach learning by focusing on the whole child, and not just the educational part of growth.  The Project Based Learning, or PBL gives learners a hands-on approach with real life experiences.  SCVi and iLead are a network of free, public charter schools with campuses in Lancaster, Agua Dulce and Castaic with online learning as well as home study programs.  Go to ileadlancaster.org for more information.

In the second half of the show, Matt welcomes Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda in studio to update on the Hughes Fire.  Crews have managed the fire to 56% containment as of the broadcast of the show and evacuation orders have been lifted.  Mayor Miranda talks about his goals for the area, which include developing more of Newhall and what once was the Valencia Mall.
