A Summer Of Discovery Awaits At Camp Verdugo Oaks In Castaic

This summer at Camp Verdugo Oaks in Castaic, operated by Scouting America Verdugo Hills Council, youth from across the region will experience a blend of adventure, learning, and personal growth that has defined the camp for generations.

Located just a few minutes off the 5 freeway, Camp Verdugo Oaks is a historic facility with a long-lasting impact.

The camp is expected to draw over 100 youth from across the Southland, including Glendale, Burbank, the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita and surrounding communities.

The goal: a week spent building confidence, fostering independence, and offering young people the kind of timeless outdoor experiences that shape character and create lasting memories.

The camp’s summer lineup is designed to spark curiosity and encourage hands-on learning. Youth going into grades first through fifth  will step into a tropical-themed “Castaway Cove”

resident camp, where nature exploration, games, and classic outdoor skills come together in a week of unforgettable fun.

Older youth can choose from immersive specialty programs.

One example is Rescue 911 Camp, which focuses on first aid, emergency preparedness, and real-world life-saving skills.

Behind these programs is a fully equipped camp facility tailored for both adventure and comfort. Camp Verdugo Oaks features rentable campsites, platform tents, and rustic cabins that can accommodate up to 175 people.

Campers enjoy access to a full kitchen and dining area, a swimming pool, archery and BB gun ranges, a gaga ball pit, a nature trail, and a beloved campfire amphitheater.

The camp is cared for entirely by volunteers who take pride in creating a safe, welcoming space where youth can thrive.

For local residents of Santa Clarita interested in getting involved, volunteers are always needed to help with everything from facility upkeep to supporting programs throughout the Summer.

Community members can also make a difference by donating supplies or funding scholarships to help more youth attend camp. For those interested in seasonal volunteerism, summer positions are open to teens and adults who want to spend their summer making a positive impact.
