The Kiwanis Club of Santa Clarita hosted a special Our Community Salutes luncheon on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, recognizing 50 post-high school military enlistees for their commitment to serving the nation.

Held at the Sand Canyon Country Club, the ceremony welcomed more than 200 attendees—including enlistees, family members and supporters—gathering to celebrate the next generation of service members.

Renard Thomas, Director of Veteran Services at College of the Canyons, and retired Marine Major General Mike Fahey served as the event’s featured speakers. Both leaders shared messages of encouragement, patriotism and community support for the young men and women preparing to enter military service.

Mark E. Hartzell, President Kiwanis Club of Santa Clarita

Each enlistee was presented with an official Our Community Salutes challenge coin as well as a booklet containing the United States Constitution—symbols of honor, duty and the values they will carry with them into service.

This fall celebration was one of only four Our Community Salutes ceremonies held nationwide, recognizing post-high school enlistees.

The Kiwanis Club of Santa Clarita is set to host its next Our Community Salutes ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center. That spring event will honor high school military enlistees.
