Sophie (FREE to adopt)

* UPDATE: Sophie has been adopted!

KHTS Adopt a Pet - Sophie

15-year-old Sophie.

Female tortie, 15 years old

Animal ID# A5058921

Such a beautiful, sweet and loving girl — blind, lost and alone at 15 years of age.

She was found as a stray and no one ever came to find her. So she sits in a cage waiting for someone to show her affection. We are hoping someone out there sees this big beautiful baby and wants to love her.

It is so heartbreaking to see her at the shelter day after day un-adopted — she has been there since May 9 and has almost given up coming to the front of the cage in hopes of a home.

She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Rascal (FREE to adopt)

* UPDATE: Rascal has been adopted!

KHTS Adopt a Pet - Rascal

20-year-old Rascal.

Male domestic shorthair, 20 years old

Animal ID# A5068655

20 years of age and left at the shelter because he is old and “ill”! Rascal is an amazing and affectionate cat who shouldn’t be left to die at a shelter. He deserves to spend his last months with someone who loves him.

At the shelter, other than being very elderly, he doesn’t seem to have any major medical problems. He is simply a frail old man that enjoys pats, kisses and being carried around.

He is very alert and aware, and when he see’s you, head-butts his cage for attention. He is desperate for a kind loving person to save him.

Jack (FREE to adopt)

KHTS Adopt a Pet - Jack

8-year-old Jack.

* UPDATE: Jack has been adopted!

Male domestic shorthair, 8 years old

Animal ID# A5069203

Jack is a huge, big ball of love. He is literally gigantic and every part of him is filled with purrs, kisses and the desire to please. He is a shelter favorite and is such an amazing, happy cat.

He was surrendered when his former owner moved and couldn’t take him with them, but you can see him looking for his owner each time the door opens.

Jack doesn’t know his size and thinks he should be carried like a baby!

He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Maxine (FREE to adopt)

* UPDATE: Maxine has been adopted!

KHTS Adopt a Pet - Maxine

12-year-old Maxine.

Female Maine Coon, 12 years old

Animal ID# A5070850

Maxine is a giant Maine Coon who came to the shelter when her elderly owner moved into a senior home. She is very affectionate and loving and desperately wants to be loved back.

She seems so confused as to why she is in a cage, but as soon as you give her any attention, she is all over you and begging to go home with you.

Adopt Maxine and of course she will reward you by adoring you forever!

She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Jack (FREE to adopt)

* UPDATE: Jack has been adopted!

KHTS Adopt a Pet - Jack

7-year-old Jack.

Male Maine Coon, 7 years old

Animal ID# A5068180

Jack is a very big and beautiful Maine Coon who came to the shelter because his owner couldn’t keep him.

They say he is in great health, likes other cats and is a very social baby.

He seems traumatized by sitting in a cage at the shelter, and we really want to find him a loving and special home soon.

He really is a stunning cat and is already vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series

Every Wednesday, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 40 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 30 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by Features Director Melissa Lampert, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
