How do we keep our parents and grandparents, all seniors, engaged and social? By making it easy and comfortable for them. On this episode of the Senior Hour, Dr. Dorio and Myles discuss the GrandPad and how to do just that.

“You don’t need a pill to fix everything–sometimes you just need socialization and participation.” – Myles McNamara

“Socialization, companionship, we offer these things … if you re-engage, get them excited [about something like the them … the depression will lessen.” – Myles McNamara

“For seniors, technology can seem overwhelming—with so many different devices and apps in the marketplace, all with little-to-no instruction or tutorials available, becoming technologically savvy can be difficult. In an effort to enhance seniors’ quality of life by keeping them active and engaged with their families, Comfort Keepers® has teamed up with grandPad® to connect seniors around the world to the digital world.

grandPad senior tablets make the world more accessible to seniors by providing simple and safe ways to stay connected with family, friends, and caregivers. The grandPad offers access to games, photo sharing, video chat, and more. This new addition to our core, worldwide, in-home care services will allow us to continue making innovations to senior care with the incorporation of transformational technology that improves our clients’ quality of life.

Here’s how grandPad can help our seniors stay connected:

  • Provides a gateway to online social interaction;
  • Features intuitive apps that allow for calls, video chats, emails, and more;
  • Equipped with 4G connectivity, eliminating the need for setting up wireless connections;
  • Easy to use with no confusing buttons, passwords, or pop-up ads; and,
  • Families and caregivers have access to a companion app that makes connecting with their loved one easy for enhanced peace of mind.

grandPad technology will be offered worldwide at all Comfort Keepers and Amelis locations soon. Prior to the global rollout, the technology will be introduced in select cities across the U.S. We will continue to share more information here on our website, and via Facebook and Twitter. We are excited to begin working together with grandPad to transform the worldwide senior care industry and improve the quality of life for seniors and their families.”
