Firefighters responded to a blaze on the northbound I-5 near Whitaker Summit after a truck carrying several other cars caught fire, according to officials.

First responders received the call at 3:30 p.m. and were on scene within 15 minutes.
As of 3:50 p.m. “a vehicle is fully engulfed on the right shoulder,” said Inspector Joey Marron with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The vehicle is a car carrier, and had three vehicles in the trailer when the fire started. Marron added that the trailer was on fire at the time.

At 3:50 p.m., California Highway Patrol officials put out a sigalert that shut down all but one northbound lane near the incident. It is expected to last until 4:35 p.m.
