A grand theft suspect was detained Tuesday morning, near the Walmart on Kelly Johnson Parkway in Valencia, after frequently stealing products from the location.

Grand theft is when more than $950 — or the equivalent in stolen goods — is stolen.

Around 8:30 a.m. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Walmart in the 27900 block of Kelly Johnson Parkway, after someone was allegedly stealing goods from the store, according to Lt. Doug Mohrhoff with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.

“The call was for a male that makes regular events of stealing things at Walmart,” Mohrhoff said.

Deputies on scene have detained a person matching the suspect’s description, who is believed to have been allegedly stealing products from the store, said Mohrhoff.
