Most people’s first issue with hearing aids is appearance, but technology is changing with the times, according to Nola Aronson, Santa Clarita audiologist and owner of Advanced Audiology.

“Look at the bluetooth devices of today — they’re gigantic,” says Aronson. “I tell everybody, ‘Why don’t you just say you have a modern bluetooth device, because that’s what it is.’”

She goes on to explain that hearing aids can often allow users to answer their cell phones, watch television and even listen to music and audiobooks.

“You have to have a personal headset in anyways,” explains Aronson. “Who wants to wear wires and big headphones when you can have these little tiny devices?”

She also says that with hearing aids, you can not only hear better, but you can communicate better as well.

When a senior has trouble hearing, it can often lead others to assume they may have a condition like dementia or Alzheimer’s, according to Aronson.

“People think, ‘Oh, I can’t get a hearing aid because that means I’m old,’” said Aronson.

However, Aronson doesn’t think of seniors as “old people”; she says that hearing loss just comes with age.

“It’s very exciting times for everything, technology is changing for the better,” concludes Aronson. “It’s making people younger and younger and not older.”

Advanced Audiology will be able to serve more patients with the same high quality and personal touch that they have been known for as they have recently acquired both Audiology Services of Newhall and Audiology Partners of Mission Hills.

While Audiology Services of Newhall, located at 23033 Lyons Ave #3, is merging with Advanced Audiology’s existing office at 23822 Valencia Blvd #103 in Valencia, the San Fernando Valley location located at 14901 Rinaldi St #202 in Mission Hills will remain open.

New patients can expect to benefit from the modern expanded locations that consist of the latest in audiology equipment.

Aronson noted she is looking forward to serving all of her patients for years to come, and is celebrating her 30th anniversary in the Santa Clarita Valley as a Santa Clarita audiologist.
