Parents are divided after a scarecrow depicting President Donald Trump was put up as part of a class project on the Santa Clarita Elementary School campus.

“No matter what your political affiliation is, this was 100% inappropriate for elementary students to see at Santa Clarita Elementary today!!” a Facebook post about the scarecrow on the Santa Clarita Community Watchdog page read.
Many on social media seemed to agree.
“To suggest this is not an issue is turning a blind eye to the children being unfairly exposed to the degradation of the President of The United States and the exposure of the children to hatred,” one comment read.
But some parents weren’t upset with the scarecrow.
“If only I could be so lucky to have someone like her teaching my children every year!!!,” said one parent with children taught by the teacher named in the original post. “Shame on the people who badmouth her and don’t even know her, nor do they even have a child in her classroom!!!!”

“(As) PTC President of this school, I apologize if this is offensive,” said Sara Jones Barsh. “To clarify, our school was provided with scarecrows for each class. Each class had their students vote for how they wanted to decorate their scarecrows. I do not believe it is the student’s intention to be political.”
She described the scarecrows as a wide variety of faces, from “minions” to political figures.
“I think it would have been different if there was a pic of ALL the scarecrows so everyone could see the creativity rather than singling out one scarecrow that (by the way), the student’s are so proud of,” Jones Barsh said.
Officials with the Saugus Union School District said they were looking into the incident.
“At this point, we’re still investigating,” said Lee Morrell, a spokesman for the district. “We should have a better idea in the morning.”

I think it’s great everyone should have opportunity in the choice for their own freedom of speech if that was the child’s art who are we to stop the child’s imagination

Not all the facts have been made available by many of the parents whose children are in that classroom. The woman knew the facts but ignored them…One of parents in this classroom, explained it like this. Herself and her family are “complete Trump supporters” and “could not be more ecstatic he is our President!” She explained that the children voted, (not the Teacher) and choose for President Trump to be the scarecrow. She explained that the children decided because “scarecrows scare things away and the children believe that Trump can scare all the bad people away” This parents response to Eileen Sutton starting this horrible lynch mob was “How is this disrespectful??” Eileen Sutton posted to a message board the teachers name, the school and the room number, all because she wanted a mob riot towards this teacher. She does not have children at this school.
I wonder how these school officials would feel about “freedom of choise and free speach” if this were a President Obama Scarecrow?

Sorry folks, this kid did not disrespect the office of the president anymore than the president has himself. The bigger picture is that Trump should be the leader kids should look up to as well as the role of the office of the president.
